Do I have to join the Air Force if I enroll in AFJROTC?

There is no military obligation when you join AFJROTC!

What is the mission of AFJROTC?

The mission of the AFJROTC program is to develop citizens of
character dedicated to serving their nation and community.

What do you learn in AFJROTC?

During class, cadets learn about the history of aviation, aviation
programs, military aircraft, military customs, and leadership. But
more importantly, cadets learn excellent work habits, social skills,
and team work.

Community Service:
- Color Guards for school and community events
- Virginia 10-Miler Road Guards
- School Beautification Project
- Habitat For Humanity

Do I have to wear a uniform?

Cadets are required to wear the Air Force uniform one day a week
and will receive an inspection grade which is 35% of their ROTC
grade.

Do I have to cut my hair?  Are there other personal appearance
restrictions?

When in uniform, cadets are required to meet the grooming
standards established by the US Air Force.   Men's hair can not
touch the ears nor the back collar of the shirt.  Mustaches are
allowed,  but cannot extend past the edges of the lips.  Men can
not wear earrings.
